“Thailand: the place where I went to teach and ended up learning”
Thailand, for me, represents precisely that serene space where the noises of the outside world fade away and worries lose their weight. It is a place where I can reconnect with the essence of inner peace, moving away from distractions and everyday stress. In this country, I find a balance between mind and heart, which allows me to fully live in the present, free from the burdens of the past and without the anxiety that the future brings. Here, through practices such as Thai massage, meditation, and contact with nature, I build my personal refuge based on acceptance and gratitude.
Thailand’s culture encourages that ability to let go of what cannot be controlled, reminding me that mental peace is not a state found outside, but within oneself. The environment offers me the tranquility and space necessary to cultivate that inner balance, reinforcing a philosophy of life based on simplicity, connection, and calm. Every day in this country is an opportunity to deepen my well-being, strengthen my resilience and live with intention, keeping serenity as the central axis of my experience.
Thailand is not just a physical place for me; it is a spiritual refuge where my connection to inner balance deepens. I came to this country in 2018, when I had the opportunity to work at Nongbua Pitchaya FC. It was here that I created what I consider to be the best methodology in the history of football, an achievement that left an indelible mark on me both professionally and personally.
Explaining my feelings towards Thailand is complicated because they are many and often conflicting. On the one hand, there is pride for what I achieved on a professional level, a significant advancement in my career that resonates even today. On the other hand, there is the peace and serenity that this country offers me on a much more personal level. It is a place where I find a perfect balance between my mind, my heart and my life purpose.
For me, Thailand symbolizes the space where the burdens of the past do not haunt me and worries about the future dissipate. Here, I can immerse myself in the present, nourished by a culture that invites me to let go of control and trust the process.
Thailand has not only provided me with an environment of peace and balance, but it has also connected me deeply with its people, who represent the true heart of this country. While the Pons Method is my personal brand, a reflection of my philosophy and approach to football, the authentic brand of Thailand is undoubtedly its people. Their kindness, their way of living with simplicity and gratitude, and their ability to make me feel at home are elements that have given even deeper meaning to my time here.
It is this connection with people that has reinforced my perception of Thailand as my spiritual refuge. Here, I not only created a football methodology that many consider the best in history, but I also found a community that reminds me of the importance of humility and empathy, values that also form the foundation of my work and life.
